Our Mission

The Lifestyle Lift Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2006, by Dr. David Kent, the founder of the Lifestyle Lift facial firming procedure that has been making waves in the recent past. Dr. Kent developed this procedure in the year 2001 as a safe and less expensive alternative to existing cosmetic practices. Dr. Kent realized that he could also help children whose lives are marred by cosmetic disorders and disfiguring diseases. In particular, it is concerned with the treatment of Hemangioma, a birth defect that affects children.

Hemangioma is a benign tumor, usually in the shape of a ball, but sometimes a flatter mat, formed by a collection of excess blood vessels in an area. Because blood vessel cells are usually transparent in thin smooth muscle cells, hemangiomas are usually the color of the blood that runs through them. If the blood has a lot of oxygen, or is more arterial, the color is usually bright red. If the color is dark, the blood is usually low in oxygen, venous or possibly stagnated.

Surgical excision of proliferating hemangiomas is quite hazardous because of the risk of hemorrhage and damage to vital structures associated with them (ie, head, neck); therefore, only specially trained surgeons should perform this procedure.

Certain benefits to early excision include saving a life or vision and decreasing the negative psychosocial effects associated with a cosmetically disfiguring lesion during early childhood. Other benefits of early excision include the use of naturally expanded skin to aid in primary closure and the ability to employ a relatively avascular tissue plane surrounding actively growing hemangiomas. New advancements in surgical instruments that cauterize while cutting lessen the risk of hemorrhage.

This organization is devoted to help these children. The children we have helped and will help can either not afford the treatments or do not have access to treatment in their communities. Many of the referrals are self made by parents seeking help for their children.

The need for the Lifestyle Lift Foundation

Cosmetic disorders and disfiguring diseases may cause much physical and psychological trauma. It not only hampers one physically, but also causes mental stress, depression and related symptoms as a result of the great emotional upheaval that one has to go through in fighting with these problems. This is more true of little children whose innocent, malleable minds are hardly made to tackle such stress-packed situations. Dr. Kent, a philanthropist, who himself is a father of three, could related to the pain and stress that little children suffering from such problems have to go through. All children deserve a happy and normal childhood. It is with this philosophy that the Lifestyle Lift Foundation was formed. To remain true to its philanthropic goal, it was made a non-profit organization that would provide medical aid, treatment and information to suffering children and their families. It is the great worth of a child's smile that necessitates the existence of the Lifestyle Lift Foundation.

What does the Lifestyle Lift Foundation do?

The Lifestyle Lift Foundation is devoted to the care and service of children who are suffering from birth defects and disfigurement. It has two main aims: to inform and to heal. The role of providing information should not be undermined as information can often be a lifesaver. The role of information is of paramount importance.

The other great role of the Lifestyle Lift Foundation is to provide medical care and treatment. The Lifestyle Lift Foundation has a program of highly individualized treatment. Individual cases are studied and medical care is imparted according to the child's special needs. Therefore, even the same problem might be treated very differently in different children. The Lifestyle Lift Foundation treatment also includes a program of observation: this is not passive observation. Rather it is a very dynamic process through which individual symptoms and problems may present themselves and become clear, after which treatment becomes easier. Steroids, LASER, surgery, either individually or in combination may be used as per the needs of the subject. What  Lifestyle Lift Foundation does is not only cure cosmetic problems, but it also often save lives, because some problems such as Hemangomias may be life threatening in certain cases, for example when it is around the mouth and the nose, in which case it obstructs breathing and eating.
